Eugenio Alphandery re-elected President of the Italian Historic Companies Association

Eugenio Alphandery, director and co-owner of Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella (Florence, 1612) will lead the Italian Historic Companies Association for the 2016-2019 period. Eugenio Alphandery was appointed as Chairman for the second consecutive term by the shareholders’ assembly, which gathered for the election on February 25th, 2016 at the headquarters of Banca Federico Del Vecchio 1889 in Florence.

Engineer, born in 1948, Eugenio Alphandery will chair a National Executive Board made up of 1st Vice-President Mariacristina Gribaudi (Keyline, Bianchi 1770 Group, Conegliano), 2nd Vice-President Iacopo Manetti (Giusto Manetti Battiloro 1820, Florence), 3rd Vice-President Pina Amarelli (Museum of Licorice 1731, Rossano), as well as directors Allegra Antinori (Marchesi Antinori 1385, Florence), Cesare Cecchi (Luigi Cecchi & Sons 1893, Castellina in Chianti), Gabriele Filippini (Fiore 1827 Traditional Sweets, Monteriggioni), Fabrizio Torrini (Historical Archive Torrini 1369, Firenze) and John Sassolini Busatti (Busatti Anghiari Weaving Factory, 1842).

Following the recent territorial partition of the Association, Iacopo Manetti (Giusto Manetti Battiloro 1820, Florence) was elected President of the Central Italy District, with John Sassolini Busatti (Tessitura Busatti 1842, Anghiari) as board member and Marco Manetti (Gonnelli Bookshop 1875, Florence) as adviser; Mariacristina Gribaudi (Keyline, Bianchi 1770 Group, Conegliano) was elected President of the Northern Italy District, with Jacopo Poli (Poli Distilleries 1898, Schiavon) as director and Domenico Scimone (Carpenè Malvolti 1868, Conegliano) as adviser; Pina Amarelli (Amarelli Museum of Licorice 1731) was elected president of the Southern Italy District, with Maurizio Marinella (E. Marinella 1914, Naples) as advisor and Cristian Mucci (“Mucci Giovanni” 1894 Sugared Almonds Museum, Andria) as advisor.

Board of Statutory Auditors: Paolo Parrini (President), Giovanni Fossi, Alfredo Ceccarelli.
Ethics and Disciplinary Committee: Paolo Blasi (President), Luigi Salvadori, Eugenio Giani.

Franco Torrini was reconfirmed as Superintendent of the Association’s Scientific Cultural Observatory, together with Claudio Baccarani in the role of Commissioner.

At the end of the meeting, all Members were offered the chance to visit the headquarters of Banca Federico Del Vecchio 1889 (Florence) and admire the prestigious collection of paintings and beautiful antiques treasured by the institution, an elegant symbol of Florentine long-lived financial sector.

The Italian Historic Companies Association, which currently embraces 45 ultra-centenarian companies from 8 Italian regions with a total heritage of over 10,000 years of activity, has among its strategic objectives the collaboration with Italian Universities, the involvement of young people on themes related to business longevity, the development of new partnerships with foreign associations of historic businesses, the promotion of events and initiatives that address the most important topics related to Italian entrepreneurship (from innovation to generational turnover, from the role of corporate museums to brand protection).
