Vinitaly: the Meridian Prize goes to the Apollonio Award
A prestigious award has been bestowed in Verona upon the Apollonio Prize, winner of the second edition of the “Wine Meridian” competition, organized by the Wine Meridian magazine in order to support the most innovative ideas and projects aimed at marketing and promoting the Italian wine heritage.
The award, bestowed during Vinitaly by Fabio Piccoli, Director “Wine Meridian”, and Alessio Durazzi, Director of the Morellino di Scansano DOCG Protection Consortium, was created last year with the aim of promoting and stimulating ideas and projects for more innovative marketing and promotion initiatives in the wine sector, in Italy and abroad.
A panel of journalists, marketing and wine specialists, bloggers and social media specialists judged the numerous projects submitted to the editorial staff of the magazine and selected the most interesting ones; together with the Apollonio Cellar, also the “Cecchi” (Tuscany) and “Santa Maria la Palma” (Sardinia) wineries received the award. This is the justification of the award bestowed upon the Prize from Salento: “To the Apollonio family for the Apollonio Prize initiative, dedicated to a land, Apulia, rich in natural resources, multiform skills and widespread creativity”.
An extraordinary demonstration of how a wine-growing company can become a fundamental catalyst for promoting the culture of a land. The award, first bestowed in 2005, is now considered to be one of the most important cultural events in Southern Italy, and it sees the participation of many protagonists of Italian culture and entertainment and several Italian and international leaders. “
Born from the idea by Marcello and Massimiliano Apollonio of celebrating the Apulian most illustrious names from the movie, music, theatre, literature, and press world, the award is bestowed every year in Salento during summer, and it attracts an ever-increasing number of artists and guests from all over the world.
