Biscottificio Mattei (Prato), member of the Italian Historic Companies Association, is a business with a long history, established in 1858, when Italy wasn’t a unite country yet. A 95-cent stamp had been recently dedicated to the company founded by Antonio Mattei, who attained commercial success by producing the (now classic) almond biscuits, the famous “cantuccini” from Prato. And in fact, some “cantuccini” appear in the stamp sticker, accompanied by the traditional blue biscuit bag. The special cover celebrating the first day of issue will of course be franked in Prato; the illustrative bulletin of this issue will be signed by Elizabeth Pandolfini, Communication Manager of the company.
The presentation ceremony of the stamp will be held on Thursday, September 29th at 11:30 am in the council chamber of the City of Prato, in the presence of the Mayor Andrea Biffoni, the secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development, On. Antonello Giacomelli, and representatives of the Italian Post Office (Poste Italiane).
