Best expression of the history and excellence of “Acetaia Giusti”, member of the Italian Historic Companies Association, the IGP5 Gold Medals “Banda Rossa” balsamic vinegar from Modena won this year’s Diamond Taste Prize, awarded by the International Taste & Quality Institute in Brussels.
This recognition is bestowed to excellent products that won the Superior Taste Award at least seven times. Banda Rossa vinegar, among the top-scorers (3% of the winners), was awarded that prize for many consecutive years.
“Uncle” Giuseppe Giusti made it in his shop in the centre of Modena in the first half of the twentieth century, and it belongs to his family’s historical collection. It immediately stood out for its elegance, variety of scents and exceptional balance, thus becoming one of the most popular balsamic vinegars sold in the shop.
It was his grandson Luciano Stefani who suggested in the ‘80s to add the red band that gives Banda Rossa its name and represents its distinctive feature.
An heartfelt tribute to tradition, Banda Rossa vinegar is still produced by meticulously following uncle Beppe’s method. Once a year, it is drawn in limited quantities from the barrels of Giuseppe Giusti’s oldest Grand deposit.
